Lavender Light: A Gentle Room Refresh

When we first moved into our home On Joel Lane, we knew we wanted to create the most charming spaces for our girls — rooms that would grow with them and reflect their personalities. For years, our daughters shared a bedroom, but as they entered their tween years, it felt like the perfect time to give them their own dreamy retreats.

Our 10-year-old, Penelope, chose the most delicate shade of soft purple for her accent wall, which became the anchor for the entire room design. To complement her choice, we layered in soft whites for contrast and incorporated hints of gold for a touch of elegance and warmth.

We were able to refresh the room without purchasing new furniture — focusing instead on paint, wallpaper, and a few thoughtful details. This particular wallpaper was the easiest we’ve ever installed (especially compared to our other daughters’ rooms), which made the transformation all the more enjoyable.

There are still a few lingering projects on my list: painting the ceilings, replacing the ceiling fans, and updating the closets with better storage and fresh coats of paint. But the joy on her face during the initial reveal made every bit of it worthwhile.
