There’s something special about this in-between age — when they’re growing into themselves, but still holding on to their favorite things. For our 11-year-old daughter, her bedroom refresh was less about starting over and more about layering in a sense of who she’s becoming.
She chose a soft, romantic palette of pink and beige with warm gold touches — a gentle shift from little girl charm to something a bit more grown-up, without losing the sweetness.
We didn’t replace everything. Her bookshelf and dresser stayed right where they’ve always been, and a beloved desk got a second life as a vanity — now complete with a velvet scallop-backed chair and a softly lit mirror that feels equal parts magical and functional.
A floral wallpaper set the tone, adding a delicate backdrop behind her bed and dresser. Sheer light-filtering curtains, a ruffled comforter, and a vintage-style rug brought texture and softness to the room. Her favorite detail? The color-changing lights she can tweak to match her mood — a small upgrade that made a big impression.
This space still holds her favorite books, collected treasures, and creative supplies, but it also gives her room to dream, grow, and feel at home in her own evolving style.
