When we first moved into our home, we had an extensive list of renovation projects—and the girls’ bathroom wasn’t even in the top five.

However, life has a funny way of changing plans. A massive leak quickly moved that bathroom straight to the top of the list. (If you’ve ever watched water drip from your ceiling during a cozy family movie night, you’ll understand the urgency.)

After filing an insurance claim, we began the search for the right team to help with the renovation. While we’ve had a great experience working with Empire Builder on past projects, we opted for Extreme Restoration Inc. since the work was covered by insurance. They were a fantastic team to work with throughout the process.

We decided to replace everything—tile, vanity, toilet, bathtub, mirror, lighting, and shower/bath fixtures. The bathroom was in need of a complete refresh, and we wanted to make it functional, beautiful, and a space the girls could enjoy for years to come.

At one point, we considered installing two sinks to make mornings a little easier, but given the bathroom’s narrow layout, we decided one sink would suffice. After all, only one girl typically needs to be in there at a time. To avoid congestion, we added vanities in each of their bedrooms. This allows them to do their hair, get ready, and enjoy some extra space without crowding the shared bathroom.

One of my favorite updates was transforming the space that used to house a tiny closet. It baffled me why builders would put two doors back-to-back, but now, the nook has become a perfect open shelving area that adds both style and practicality.

Renovating the girls’ bathroom ended up being a much-needed project that we didn’t anticipate—but one we’re so glad we did. What started as an emergency repair turned into an opportunity to rethink the space, making it more functional and beautiful for the girls and for us. Whether it’s the updated design or the thoughtful layout, this bathroom now meets the needs of our growing family and fits seamlessly into the heart of our home.
